Accessibility statement

This site is a reference on WCAG 2.2 AA. Meeting that standard itself is non-negotiable.

Conformance target

wcag22aa.org targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance across all published pages. A reference site about WCAG 2.2 that failed its own standard would be a credibility failure, not a minor flaw, so we hold the whole site to the bar it documents.

How this site meets the new 2.2 criteria

The six Level A and AA criteria new in WCAG 2.2, and how this site satisfies each:

  • 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum). The site has no sticky headers or footers that overlay content, so focused elements are never obscured.
  • 2.5.7 Dragging Movements. The site has no drag interactions; all controls are operated by a single click, tap, or key press.
  • 2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum). Interactive targets meet or exceed 24 by 24 CSS pixels, with comfortable spacing in navigation and link lists.
  • 3.2.6 Consistent Help. Contact and reference links appear in a consistent relative order in the header and footer across every page.
  • 3.3.7 Redundant Entry. The site is a static reference with no multi-step forms, so no information is requested twice.
  • 3.3.8 Accessible Authentication (Minimum). There is no login or authentication, so no cognitive function test is imposed.

Testing methodology

Each published page is verified against the following before going live:

  • Automated checks with axe-core, targeting zero violations across WCAG 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 A and AA rules.
  • Keyboard-only navigation pass: Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, Escape, and arrow keys.
  • Manual review of the new 2.2 criteria, which automated tools cannot fully evaluate.
  • Color contrast verification: at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and non-text elements.
  • Heading hierarchy review with no skipped levels.
  • Visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
  • A skip-to-content link present and reachable on the first Tab.
  • A lang attribute set on the document root.

Known issues

As of the last review there are no known WCAG 2.2 AA conformance issues. If an issue is identified, it will be listed here with a planned remediation date and updated when resolved.
